Tweeting For Change

[This blog has since moved to Head on over to check it out, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised… x]

Whoever said that celebrities only use Twitter to boast about their ‘high-life’ obviously hasn’t heard of TwitChange, a new campaign founded by Pastor Shaun King, and endorsed by Desperate Housewives star, Eva Longoria Parker.

With the motto, “Changing the world, one tweet at a time”, and over 150 celebrities, from Cher to Justin Bieber to Kardashian sisters and the Jonas Brothers, taking part, you know that big things are going to come from this.

So, what is it?

The official TwitChange website describes itself as “the only global celebrity auction where Twitter users can bid to get three things: be followed by their favorite celebrity on Twitter, retweeted, or mentioned by them in a special tweet!” as well as the ‘MEGA Package’ which includes all three things.

Who can be involved?

Fans, business and those who want to donate.

How is this done?

It’s set up like an eBay auction where you bid on the item you’d like to win.The person with the highest bid wins.

The great thing about this auction is that all proceeds are going towards a great cause, A Home in Haiti, to help them raise the funds to finish building the Miriam Center.

The Miriam Center is a school and home for Haitian children. It houses, educates, and loves on Haitian children who have cerebral palsy, severe autism and other major life challenges. Due to the January 2010 Haiti Earthquake, this center now also houses children who have nowhere else to go.

With Haiti not being a dominant tpoic in the media anymore, this is a fabulous way in bringing financial aid, media coverage and help to the still much destructed nation.

So the question is, what are you prepared to pay?

Bidding began 15 September, 2010, and ends 25 September, 2010.
